NC 101 Editing with Avid NewsCutter

Overview
This course introduces the concepts of nonlinear editing and includes basic features of the Avid NewsCutter system for WindowsSession. Time is divided between demonstration and hands-on practice, with ample time for experimentation with sample news material. Students will use Avid NewsCutter to capture and organize source footage, edit, trim sequences, edit audio, work with effects, and output work. Students will also learn basic interaction with workgroup components such as Avid Interplay and the NRCS tool.

Prerequisites
- A background in editing, specifically in news production, is strongly recommended
- Familiarity with the system is not necessary
Objectives
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Capture and organize source footage
- Work with assets in the Avid Interplay Window
- Edit a news package
- Cut the A-Roll
- Edit and trim sequences
- Edit audio
- Refine edits by trimming
- Refine audio levels and pan
- Finish with B-roll, dissolves, and music
- Output work
