This course covers the core concepts and skills needed to operate a Pro Tools|HD system in a professional studio environment. The course continues to build on the fundamental concepts and topics covered in the Pro Tools 100-series of courses. Access to the 201 exam requires passing all previous exams

Prerequisites

Objectives

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand Pro Tools|HD including component parts of an HD system, HD technology, and the 48-bit mixer
  • Optimize your system by customizing I/O setup and preferences
  • Configure and navigate sessions using voice allocation, disk allocation, and auto scrolling to tracks
  • Manage sessions using DigiBase browsers to locate and relink missing files
  • Apply selection techniques such as creating timeline and edit selections, nudging and shifting, and auditioning
  • Edit using alternate tools, auto fades, and advanced nudging techniques
  • Employ HD automation modes, using AutoMatch and automating plug-ins
  • Mix with Pro Tools|HD using solo modes, VCA Master tracks, in-depth plug-ins, and DSP-induced delays
  • Finish the session by creating a final mixdown and using PhaseScope
