M-Audio Luna II Microphone Combines Classic Sound with New Features for Greater Recording Flexibility
Los Angeles, Calif, 2008-11-13 LOS ANGELES, November 13, 2008 — M-Audio, a leading provider of creative tools for musicians and a part of Avid Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: AVID), today announced the Luna® II professional cardioid studio condenser microphone. The Luna II mic brings new features to the critically acclaimed Luna microphone, enabling users to capture a broader array of sound sources with greater detail and clarity.
The Luna II microphone features Class-A, solid-state electronics and a large, 1.1” ultra-thin, 3-micron, evaporated-gold diaphragm with brass capsule, making it ideal for capturing the nuances of vocals, guitar, piano and other instruments. The addition of a -10dB pad extends the maximum SPL to 140dB, allowing users to record intense sources such as kick drums, brass instruments and guitar amps. The new switchable low-frequency roll-off filter gently slopes to cut rumble and stand-transmitted vibrations. The microphone ships in a stylish wooden case and includes a heavy-duty shock mount.
The award-winning M-Audio® microphone line is designed in the United States and hand-assembled in limited quantities ensuring premium quality and performance. All Luna II microphones are manufactured with a close tolerance of no more than ±1dB variation from published curves across the entire frequency range. As a result, any two or more Luna II microphones qualify as a matched set for stereo recording or surround recording.
“The original Luna microphone was widely embraced by critics and pros from across the audio production spectrum,” said Adam Castillo, M-Audio marketing director. “The new Luna II is even more flexible. It’s perfect for a diverse array of users, from seasoned pros who want to add a fresh tone to their mic locker, to new enthusiasts who need an all-purpose first mic.”
The Luna II microphone is expected to ship in November 2008, with an MSRP of $399.99.
