SevenSeas Sails Ahead with Avid

S5 Fusion Installed in Multi-Studio Complex in Manhattan

Avid announced today that SevenSeas Studios has installed a S5 Fusion digital mixing audio system in Studio-4 of their Manhattan-based facility.

SevenSeas Studios is a state-of-the-art recording studio owned by SevenSeas Entertainment Inc. As one of New York's newest studios, SevenSeas provides high-end recording, mixing, mastering, post, digitizing, and asset management services to the music industry.

"The console was an obvious choice for us as it gives us the flexibility and high-end digital performance our facility demands. It is a valuable item on the menu of services we provide our clients," said Tony Drootin, Executive Officer SevenSeas Entertainment, Inc.

The S5 Fusion is a high performance digital audio mixing system specifically designed for music and audio post-production applications. With its EuCon high-speed Ethernet control protocol, SevenSeas can seamlessly control a Pro Tools HD system from the Fusion's control surface.

"Owning the Fusion console gives us the opportunity to accommodate some of the top engineers and producers within the pop music, classical, jazz and film genres. We are very excited about this opportunity and are eager to share it with all genres of music. The Fusion integrates quite well with a wide variety of workstations giving us a wide range of flexibility," explained Brian McKenna, SevenSeas' Chief Operating Officer.

Seven-time Grammy award winning engineer, Richard King of RK Recording, has been steadily working on the Euphonix at SevenSeas since its installation earlier this month. "I first used a Euphonix System 5 console in India in 2004, and then did some more extensive recording and mixing in New York and Toronto. About a year ago, as Brian McKenna and I began searching for a new digital desk for his studio; it became clear that its premium sound, ease of project management, as well as its compact footprint made the Fusion, was the frontrunner. My projects normally run at 2fs (88.2 or 96KHz) and the Fusion runs very efficiently at high resolution. The console was installed in August and we haven't looked back."

"The S5 Fusion console combines warm sound, precise control and ease of operation," said King. "Its flexible configurations for film mixing and multichannel audio productions make the system ideal for all my professional needs," concluded King.

Many high-profile projects have already been mixed on the new console including those for clients such as Justin Timberlake, Yo-Yo Ma, and renowned film composer Marcelo Zarvos.
