List processor

FastBreak’s List Processor is a compact highly-efficient application able to run a single channel playlist in real-time. List Processor runs with a low memory and CPU footprint. Each LP can control up to 5 server channels. Intra-system communication is faster and lower bandwidth is used with customer SQL server messaging interface and internal data streaming

Efficiency: Both List Processors run concurrently on the Air Control Workstation

Media Prep

Hosting applications that manage content on the video server, Media Prep draws on an extensive array of multi-functional tools to manage such tasks as management of on-air inventory and videotape dubbing. It also serves as a primary contact point to deliver and process daily log schedule files, and ingest and purge orders. The workstation is equipped with a Jog/Shuttle control for manipulating tape and server clips

Air Control Workstation

Playlist management software that provides master control operators a GUI specifically designed for ease of operation. The interface features clear access to the channels under control. Operators can clearly see when their triggers will occur and secondary events are shown attached to each element. The interface gives quick access to server and VTR resources

Clear visualization of events and status helps eliminate errors and raises productivity by allowing operators to control more channels


Allows broadcasters to tailor the visual impact of a channel. Any element in the inventory, or any line within the playlist can have a virtually unlimited number of secondary Flex Event actions associated with it. FlexEvent data is displayed in the playlist and timeline. FlexEvent playout is accurate to the millisecond; GPI/O events play with single frame accuracy. Billable secondary events are reported to traffic for reconciliation

Informs operators about FlexEvents within the UI for easier monitoring. Provides substantial flexibility by removing the barrier to complex secondary events in on-air presentation

Custom Traffic Interface

Enables efficient communication with your traffic system through a customized interface. As an option, the BXF protocol is supported with full adherence to the SMPTE standard

Streamlines business operations with traffic systems that have real-time access to schedule logs, ingests, purges, and as-run reports. Standards-based communication is available with the BXF Gateway

Microsoft SQL

Running on the Microsoft SQL Database, Avid FastBreak automation systems feature list and inventory management handled by the master automation database schema. The master database resides on the Air Control workstation

Offers efficiency, security, and reliability by allowing efficient metadata access and sharing across multiple applications

Open API

Provides third parties with a rich set of functions to interface and exchange data with FastBreak. Use Case examples include:

  • Playlist inter-process triggering
  • Live data exchange with traffic via BXF
  • Third-party and customer-driven interaction with playlist (i.e. direct interop with graphics systems, status displays in other locations)

Gives flexibility to integrate automation data with other applications to customize workflows and increase efficiency of master control operations.
