Interplay Low-Res Encode
Interplay Low-Res Encode enables the real-time capture of low-resolution proxy material simultaneously with its high-res original. Harnessing the power of Interplay to automatically match and track low-resolution proxies directly to their high-resolution versions, Interplay Low-Res Encode is also a key option to expanding productivity beyond the facility, with remote workflows that stream MPEG4 proxies over the WAN.
Total proxy bandwidth per client is only 1 megabyte per second, providing significant reductions in network traffic for all workstations using MPEG4 proxies – including Interplay Assist for assistants and loggers, or iNEWS Instinct for teams of journalists. Reduced traffic translates to better performance for high-res clients as well.
Track multiple resolutions as a single asset
All associations and metadata for each resolution are linked to the same master asset across all versions regardless of resolution or format. Users are able to use the resolution that is appropriate for their system and task, and edits performed on one version will be the same on all versions.
Expand capacity and throughput
Network limitations often require administrators to put a cap on the number of high-resolution editing clients that can be working at the same time. By creating and working with lower-bandwidth versions, a facility can have more simultaneous users.
Distribute the workload evenly
Media Composer, Symphony, NewsCutter editing systems, iNEWS Instinct journalist editing system, and Interplay Assist logging systems can work with high- and low-resolution media simultaneously.
Organize and prioritize media capture
The flexible Interplay Capture system controls simultaneous high- and low-resolution recording. Recordings can be scheduled, or can be done on demand (crash recording), and all are stored directly on a Unity media network.

A single encoding device supports real-time capture of four concurrent video feeds into low-res proxies, each with four channels of compressed audio, enabling your facility’s feed operations or low-res capture requirements to start small and grow as you need to.
