Superior Drummer® 2.0 is Toontrack’s new professional sample engine for drums and is initially released as “The New York Studio Legacy Series Vol I”—featuring the Superior Drummer 2.0 drum engine and recordings from legendary New York Recording Studio Avatar (formerly known as Power Station).

Superior Drummer 2.0 has been re-developed for optimized use with e-drums, featuring more effective use of sample layers and optimized loading times. It’s been fitted with a new construction window featuring the simple handling and visual drum lay-out of Ezdrummer® but with in-depth features such as an internal mixer fitted with high-end filters from Sonalksis, ADSR and X-pads with the ability to read and combine all Superior and Ezdrummer® sound libraries. It features MIDI support through award-winning Toontrack® MIDI engine Ezplayer® pro.

Toontrack® solo is a free host application for Toontrack® samplers providing stand-alone operation, multi-instance operation and support for specialist MIDI controllers

The New York Studio legacy Series Vol II

The first expansion pack for Superior Drummer 2.0 features recordings from the legendary New York studios Allaire and Hit Factory. These studios are no longer in operation which means that drum samples from these recording rooms are now available through Toontrack® music only.

Superior Drummer 2.0 “The New York Studio Legacy Series” was recorded by Pat Thrall, Neil Dorfsman and Nir Z at the Hit Factory, Avatar Studios and Allaire Studios, NY. Between the three of them they have, over the past three decades, worked with artists as diverse as Meatloaf, Celine Dion, Nick Lachey, Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Dire Straits, Björk, Kiss, Joss Stone, Genesis, John Mayer and Chris Cornell.
