With System 5-MC, you gain deep, integrated control over your favorite EUCON-enabled creative applications, such as Pro Tools 9, Logic, Nuendo, Pyramix, Digital Performer, and more. EUCON carries high-resolution control information for faders, knobs, displays, and more between System 5-MC and the selected application. This enables you to quickly switch between multiple applications—and even workstations—at the touch of a button, with all controls and displays automatically matching the selected application.

Intuitive, flexible mixing
Based on the successful design of the System 5 console, used by top facilities around the world, the System 5-MC professional mixing surface puts both editing and mixing control at your fingertips, enabling you to work faster and easier. Assign and control EQ, dynamics, pan, plug-ins, and other settings—with precision—using the eight touch-sensitive knobs on each channel strip. And easily make volume changes with the high-quality motorized faders, with easy-to-read feedback displayed on dual high-resolution LED meters next to each fader.
You also get constant visual feedback in everything you do through the high-resolution, multiformat TFT screens at the top of the surface, which can display metering, EQ and pan settings, track names, and other parameter values. The MC Pro controller sits in the center of the console and includes 56 LCD SmartSwitches, enabling you to quickly perform complex macros with one touch. You also have two joysticks, a jog wheel, integrated full-sized keyboard, monitoring section, and touchscreen for the ultimate in software application control. Plus, you can interchange the trackball and jog/shuttle wheel for left or right-handed operation.

Each channel strip features:
- One long-throw, touch-sensitive, 100mm motorized fader
- Dual high-resolution LED meters (next to each fader) for levels and automation
- On, solo, automation mode, input monitoring, attention, record, and swap switches
- 8 touch-sensitive rotary controls per channel with LED display rings and 4-character designation displays—each knobset has select, on, and automation switches and automation status LEDs
- High-resolution TFT displays at the top of each channel show metering, processor graphs (for EQ and pan), routing, 12–14 character channel name designations, and status
Get instant access with a touch
Quickly access files, system setup, and program various functions from the high-resolution touchscreen, which sits just above the keyboard. The screen also shows you a permanent display of filenames, transport state, fader labels, and the main menu. You can also customize each section of the surface using the Setup button, which brings up a setup screen for that section of the surface.
The touchscreen includes the following display screens:
- Multiple workstation setup and selection
- File management
- Track selection and management
- Flip—enables you to swap System 5-MC faders and knobs
- Soft Key setup—assign functions and keyboard commands to the SmartSwitches
- System setup and preferences
- Edit Control banks, Soft Key banks, User Sets, and Application Sets (can all be named, stored, recalled, renamed, and deleted)
- Layouts—set the faders to control different sections of a DAW, or assign any combination of tracks to the faders
Perform complex functions in a single press
Instantly perform application functions, keystroke shortcuts, and macro commands using the LCD display SmartSwitches that automatically update as you switch between applications. Take a series of repetitive keyboard shortcuts you use for editing and perform them all at once with a single SmartSwitch press. Assign various functions to the wheel on the fly. Effortlessly navigate your application menus and more—all without your hands ever leaving the controller. System 5-MC comes equipped with default Application Sets for most DAWs, but you can modify these and create your own to speed up any task.
Make changes with a twist
The System 5-MC center section includes eight touch-sensitive rotary knobs with LED display rings that function as a SuperChannel, enabling you to control EQ, dynamics, and other DAW plug-ins on the selected channel, with keys to navigate to additional parameters if needed. You also have an additional “Assignable Knob” that automatically picks up the current active control in your DAW application. For example, if you move your cursor over a pan control in your EUCON-aware software, the knob will act as a pan control. You can also lock this knob to a particular function.
Transport and Wheel Controls
You can use the ten SmartSwitches above the trackball to act as transport controls, with multicolor displays for showing orange, or green when in play, and red when recording, or program these switches to manage any transport or sync function—in any order—to exactly match the transport layout you prefer. You can also choose to permanently display SMPTE or MIDI time code and locate registers on the touchscreen, and add an optional external synchronizer for multiple machine control. You can even use the SmartSwitches to modify the function of the jog wheel on the fly.
