Ingest files quickly and easily through drag and drop

Ingest files quickly and easily through drag and drop

Media | Director orchestrates the entire process of parking, checking in, and transcoding media into production and nearline storage automatically, making the assets available to your entire team. Depending on your needs, you can easily initiate one or more of these ingest processes through the simple interface using drag-and-drop—on a Mac or PC. Once you set your job in action, view its progress in the Progress pane.

Park files on ISIS and third-party storage

Park files on ISIS and third-party storage

Free up camera media cards and disks by parking the original source material on nearline storage until it’s needed for the final conform. Because Media | Director is built to support the open Avid MediaCentral Platform, you can park and register material on both ISIS and third-party storage systems.

Start editing immediately with ISIS

Start editing immediately with ISIS

Once ingest begins, you can jump start the creative process immediately by logging and editing sequences directly from any native source material parked on ISIS shared storage, without having to wait for the transcode process to complete.

Get started fast with predefined orchestrations

Get started fast with predefined orchestrations

Media | Director comes with a collection of predefined orchestration scenarios that enable you to get up and running fast, without having to configure the software. That said, the interface is also entirely configurable, enabling you to create customized profiles by using the Profile Builder to add interface elements and set rules for your specific workflows and needs.

Automate clip names

Automate clip names

Using the Profile Builder, you can have Media | Director automatically name clips and the folders in which they’re stored, giving you and your team a clearer understanding of the media you have at hand. You can generate names from clip names, camera metadata, volume names, date, time stamp, and more, or even extract metadata from a preexisting directory structure, such as with media housed on a backup drive. If you always use the same naming scheme in your workflow, you can simply set it and forget it.

Other Features

Customize the interface with the Profile Builder

Because Media | Director is script-based, it’s easy to customize the interface to make the software do exactly what you need it to do. Using the Profile Builder, you can add interface elements that prompt contributors to fill in certain required information (such as the shooting location, episode number, and/or clip name), set storage locations (to house original and/or proxy material), organize media into a folder hierarchy, and/or initiate the transcode process.
