Avid Educator's Workshop for Media Composer

This workshop is designed specifically for academic instructors. Based on the MC101 course, this workshop will educate attendees in the core skills, workflows, and concepts involved in professional nonlinear editing on Avid Media Composer systems. In addition, attendees will also be exposed to the design and use of the MC101 course materials, and participate in discussions relating to teaching Avid in the classroom.

At the conclusion of the workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to take the Avid Media Composer Certified User exam. This serves as your first step in becoming an Avid Learning Partner (ALP).


Media educators planning to teach Avid Media Composer as part of their academic program.


  • No familiarity with the system is necessary
  • Familiarity with Macintosh or Windows Operating System is required
  • A background in editing, production, or post-production is strongly recommended
