About Elliott Kaplan
Elliott Kaplan joined the Avid Training department in 1994 at a time when the company was experiencing explosive growth and the demand for training had outpaced our capacity to directly deliver it. Avid Training was a small tightly-knit group just trying to keep up. From the very start, Elliott embodied the Avid spirit with his professional determination and personal demeanor. He was quickly promoted to Manager of the newly formed Avid Certified Instructor (ACI) Program. Under his stewardship, the young program grew to over 100 ACIs strong. This program laid the foundation for the thousands and thousands of students who have been trained since then.
Elliott came to Avid from Boston Film/Video Foundation where he had served students in a similar capacity as the Education Director. He was a passionate person who held strong beliefs about education and its power to change lives. He was truly committed to nurturing and developing each ACI and as a result each student as well. Elliott died of Hodgkin’s disease in 1998. He was a kind and thoughtful person and we are honored to create this scholarship fund in his name.
