OT: have to press F1 to reboot

I installed a Promise SATA controller card which all works fine, but ever since then when I reboot I get a black screen displaying the card info and asking me to press F1 to continue. Can anyone tell me how to automatically bypass this?

I do monitor here as well and so do the rest Smile [:)]

See if you can change the boot order in the bios of the system or if there is a SATA card bios on that card.

Re: OT: have to press F1 to reboot

I checked my boot order - those drives are last on the list.

When I boot, I get "SATA II TX2plus BIOS Version 1.00.0.28 IDE Master Bus Enabled. Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run setup utility."

F2 takes me to the Dell System info, F1 launches WinXP.

I suppose there is something I need to do to the BIOS on the SATA card, but I don't know how or where to access it.

I think it's the disable boot add in option.. not sure though. (in the BIOS that is from the DELL)

Those drives are listed in the boot sequence but are not listed under the "Drives" list in the Dell Setup menu... I can't find a way to make any changes. I removed them from the boot sequence list but it didn't make any difference.

have you searched for the "boot from add in" option? or something to that extend...

I don't know where else to search for it...

In "Boot Sequence" there is a list of drives. There is an item named "Add-In Hard Drive" but it says "not present". The two drives on the Controller card are listed and I have removed them from the numbered list which makes them unbootable. But that does not change the startup message requiring me to hit F1.

Under "Drives" this controller is not listed - only the integrated controllers are listed: SCSI, SATA (2 internal drives), PATA (DVD drive and one ATA drive I have on the IDE 2 bus), and SATA operation (to turn RAID on or off for the internal SATAs).

Re: OT: have to press F1 to reboot

Came aross this problem a couple of years ago... => Solution

Scenario:  Dell Dimension 4700 => 2 controller Sata board => added a promise ultra card => used the only existing IDE controller for the CD/DVD drive => had to turn off the PATA-1 controller in the BIOS (Primary IDE Slave) => located under the Drives category in the BIOS.  :)
