    Access to old Projects

Was doing the ol' 2006 backup of Avid projects and found that, having uninstalled DV Xpress and now using Xpress Pro, I no longer can access/ copy old projects . . . does anyone have any tips for me?  Highly unlikely that I would ever need said projects again, but . . .

Thanks for any help you might be able to offer . . .

If you still have the .avb files that's all you really need, you can copy them into any project folder and they will appear there.

More likely to be a Windows folder permissions problem. (I can access and open Avid Projects from several Avid systems going back over 10 years)

Thanks for the ideas, folks . . . weird, think I screwed it up.  Cannot explore the folders, and what's more, it says they are empty.  Which doesn't make sense.  Maybe it was a bonehead move to move them into the projects folder of my Xpress Pro folder.  Shoot.  When I try to get in just to copy the .avb files, it says 'Access Denied'.  Grrr.

Yah, I have the same problem. Can't access project files created in Xpress Pro 4.6.

    Hello..

Try this solution. It is suggested that you change the permissions on the projects folder you are trying to open the bins from..

    Re: Access to old Projects

    Correction for the above:

Even though the above solution is for deleting files the same should apply to a folder that the current user does not have permissions to view...

    Re: Access to old Projects

Hey, Wow! This problem has plagued me too for a year with some old projects. I was resigned to only hoping I wouldn't have to work on them again, but now I have full access. Thanks!
