A silly new transition I've been using

I thought I'd share this new transition thing I've been using...

It emulates a whip-pan, I've been using it to cut between shot-size jumpcuts in a piece to camera (WS blah blah CUT TO CU blah blah CUT TO WS blah blah).

    It goes like this...

V1 - main video, on cut, add a PUSH L to R transition, about 8 frames.
V2 - cut filler to coincide with V1 PUSH, add PUSH L to R to cut filler, and enter Effect Editor

Because the V2 push was added to filler, it will default to start and end keyframes of 50, set start keyframe to 0 and end keyframe to 100.

Now you have two pushes over each other. Alt-Drag DFT Fast Blur onto the V2 push, set Horizontal blur to 125 or so, and make sure gang is not selected and vertical blur is 0.

That's it basically. You can also keyframe the blur a little, so that a frame 0 it's less (say 30) then by frame 4 it is 125, and back to 30 by frame 8 to ease into and out of the whip a little more.

I quite often use filler above cuts to embelish transitions. By subcliping the filler and effects off to a bin, they can be easily reapplied later to other cuts.
