Which Nvidia Driver for Quadro FX 1100?

Currently using Avid Xpress Pro 4.3.5 with a Matrox Millennium 550 graphics card in a dual monitor mode. Have purchased a Nvidia Quadro FX 1100 to replace the 550.

Should I install the Nvidia FX1100 Driver (53.03) that is in the Avid Utilities File (that comes on the Avid Install Disc) or should I install the latest Nvidia FX 1100 Driver (77.56) that is on the Nvidia download website?

I eventually (*) will be upgrading to Avid Xpress Pro 5.2 -- at that time, do I again have to install a "designated" Nvidia Driver for 5.2?

(*) Reading stories about 5.2 long, long rendering times and other issues. Should I hold off on going to 5.2 at this time? Thanks.

67.22. You should have a Utilities folder insdie your Avid folder in program files. Inside there is the Nvida driver.

    Unstuff, and then run Setup.exe

Re: Which Nvidia Driver for Quadro FX 1100?

As far as I know, the designated nVidia driver for Avid is 67.22.

    Hope this helps.

BTW, I had to roll back to 5.1.6 to get rid of nasty green lines which were appearing on PAL Quick Time exports.

You can get 67.22 here: Certified NVIDIA drivers

You are correct, Neil.  It is the 67.22 drivers that are certified with Avid.  They are included with your Avid software, as Jeff noted.

As regards what version - if you're not working with any HD resolutions, v5.1.6 is very stable for me (and most others, apparently).

Re: Which Nvidia Driver for Quadro FX 1100?

Actually, the 67.22 driver is the supported driver for Avid Xpress Pro HD (any 5.x version.) If you are still on 4.3.5, then you should be using the 53.03 driver - it is the supported driver for Service Pack 1. If you upgrade to 4.6 and are on Service Pack 2, you will need to install 61.76.

Thanks Kate for the driver info.

What about the extremely long rendering times others have experienced in 5.2?

Re: Which Nvidia Driver for Quadro FX 1100?

Good question mobilevp. I'd want to look into it further, and post any info to a thread that's specifically about the long render times, before starting to answer it here. Let me look around the forums a bit for posts about it and I'll reply to one of those (or maybe combine a couple if they're about the same thing.)

Nice information. One question, if I have version 70.78 for my Quadro FX 4400, should I downgrade to version 67.22? I reason I asked is because I am experiencing the problem in this thread.

Re: Which Nvidia Driver for Quadro FX 1100?

not sure but could be... there are a few (well maybe more then a few) that experience the same problem especialy on FX500 cards so far. I don't think it will hurt to un-install and try the other driver. Best way to un-install is to reboot in save mode (VGA only) un-install teh software from NVIDIA, reboot and start the installer from the drive.

Re: Which Nvidia Driver for Quadro FX 1100?

    Hi,

I would like to ask Kate at Avid Customer Support, I am using a Nvidia Quadro FX1400 with the 67.22 Driver installed on an Express Pro Powerpack ( v5.1.3 ) approved system but not yet editing on High Def., if this is the wrong Driver what is the correct one ?.  All the programmes ( Avid fx, Avid 3D etc.. )  seem to work fine on this system.

    Thanks
