RE. A success! HD DNxHD sequence to SD DVD story

    In reference to this post:

    http://www.avid.com/exchange/forums/53103/ShowPost.aspx

As far as specific DNxHD codec settings, is it correct to choose:

    Video
    -------
    Depth: Millions of Colors+
    Quality: Best
Frame rate: 29.97 (origional source prior to transcode was 60i)

    Audio
    -------
    Format: Uncompressed
    Sample rate: 48kHz
    Sample size: 16
    Channels: 2

    Prepare for Internet Streaming
    ------------------------------------
    uncheck this

Just want to clarify for best possible end result.

Re: RE. A success! HD DNxHD sequence to SD DVD story

    Below is the origional post:
    ----------------------------------

After much experimenting and deadends, we have a very succesfull path to an NTSC SD DVD from a DNxHD sequence.

Export as a QT Movie (not reference) 1920x1080 DNxHD codec, top field, RGB (this takes about 10 minutes per minute of finished footage) and does make a very big file.

Encode in Procoder 2 as a Non-interlaced source, lower or upper field M2v and Wave file.

Author with your favorite authoring program (we used DVD-Lab Pro).

The result is sharp, with great color and smooth motion.

We're still trying to see if we can use a QT reference file but those experiments are still on-going.

I believe there is some DNxHD>DVD info buried deep in these also:

if possible, stick with QT Ref instead of the huge movie file.
