    Missing Audio P2!!!

What is going on? I brought in some footage from a Panasonic P2 card into avid via the media tool. Everything looks good. However I'm missing Ch1 Audio (ch2+3 are there). I thought someone forgot to turn on the mic, but this has happened before so I decided to load the clip up in FCP just to double check and Ch 1 is there!! Why is it not coming into my avid?

Getting pretty frustrated.... Deadlines are flying by!

Anyone got some Ideas how to fix this??

How not to lose a track

Here are solutions of my experiments:

    • Copy MXF to Avid MediaFiles brand new directory (name it "2" for example) (when Avid is running or not). Then launch / switch to Avid. Application will recognize a new folder and makes file databases for it. When Avid creates databese for the first time, the databases are correct. If you want to add additional files you have two options:
    • Make additional folder in Avid MediaFiles and copy new files to it. (You can have Avid open, just don't switch to Avid during copying.)
    • Quit Avid, copy additional files to folder which is not empty and then delete both database files. Then launch Avid which creates databases at startup correctly.

    • Connect to a computer P2 card or Panasonic portable HDD or Firestore FS-100 HDD with clips organized as in P2 card. Avid recognizes the media correctly and you can consolidate them to your local disk.

Procedures shown above are designed for not to get in trouble.
If you already miss a A1 track, deleting of databeses doesn't help. You have to locate missing part of each clip using source view in Avid, then switch to file manager and move all the files belonging to "missing" track to another non-Avid folder, switch to Avid (it erratically updates databeses) and move it back to Avid MediaFiles structure. Avid updates databases. In File menu choose function Load Databases and you should see the missing track in source view now.

Stupid mistakes! And those are not alone!
