    Re: My Shortcuts™

I have moved full screen playback to my escape key and the sample plot to my tilda key.  Handy so I can click them on and off without thinking about it.

    Re: My Shortcuts™

i don't like the keyboards, I bought one and used it for a year, while you may work quickly at first, I became dependent on the keyboard printed shortcuts rather than actually memorizing the shortcuts.  I think those keyboards hurt people trying to memorize shortcuts, at least in my case.  also the more i work in xpress pro the more i begin to want to change the shortcuts to fit my workflow better and then that becomes pointless with those keyboards

    Re: My Shortcuts™

    good stuff!

How are you all getting those options in order to map them to shortcuts? I don't remember seeing a lot of them in the command palette options...

And I was real surprised to find a Logitech Avid keyboard at a thrift store (!) for $3.99 the first week I bought Avid... ya never know what you'll find at a thrift store!

It would be great to have those shortcuts- how do you get them?

    thanks-

I guess some are MC specific but most are available in Pro through the 3 different ways the Command pallet you lets you map things to your keyboard

In XPro, (5.1.6, for me) how do you map some of these commands to keys- I think some of these are not in command pallette- am I wrong?

I sure would like to find out how to do these- I love shortcuts!-

    Re: My Shortcuts™

Open your Keyboard, open your Command Palette (Ctrl+3), then click Menu to Button Reassignment.  Now you can click the button on the keyboard you want to map (say Page Up), and you can choose a menu command to go there--say go to File-->Import.  Import will now be mapped to Page Up!  Rinse and repeat as necessary.

    Re: My Shortcuts™

On the command palet yu have to possibility to map button to button and menu to button. That gives you all possibilities to map. And when you open your keyboard setting just hit shift to be able to map keys and menus to shift_key combinations

    Re: My Shortcuts™

Not sitting at my Avid right now, but I'll try to pull the main ones from memory too. Here goes:

    F2 - Add Locator
    F3 - Previous Locator
    F4 - Next Locator
F5 - Match Frame                             Shft F5 - Reverse Match Frame
    F6 - Find Bin                                    Shft F6 - Find Script

ESC - Toggle Sample Plot on/off
TAB - Toggle Src/Rcd in Timeline

Shft R - Render In to Out
    Shft T - Title Tool
    Y - Quick Transition
    U - Remove Effect
    Shft I - Trim Heads
Shft O - Trim Tails (Incredible timesavers!)
    P - Extend Edit                                 Shft P - Make subcip
    [ - Effect Editor
    ] - Trim mode
    Shft [ - Trim A Side
    Shft ] - Trim B Side
    A - Rewind                                       Shft A - Previous Edit
    S - Fast Forward                               Shft S - Next Edit
    Shft G - Gang Sync
    H - Add Edit
Shft Z - Add Script Mark
Shft B - Replace Edit (Most used key on the keyboard)
    N - Add Keyframe
M - Toggle Quad View Multicame mode
Up Arrow - Less Detail                     Down Arrow - More Detail
Shift Up Arrow - Previous Camera
Shift Down Arrom - Next Camera (multicam function)

Generally I try to map the keys to something that makes sense to me. For instance, since marking in and out are already mapped to the I and O keys, it made perfect sense to me to add a shift modifier and map the Trim To Head and the Trim To Tail commands to those keys.  Also, since the Overwrite Edit function is already mapped to the B key, the best thing I ever did was learn to use the Replace Edit function and map it to the Shift B key.

    Great thread!
