Using Avid Pro Tools and Avid Xpress Pro on the Same System

As noted in the readme files, Avid Pro Tools and Avid Xpress Pro can not be used on the same system. However, Avid Pro Tools can be disabled in order to use the Avid Xpress Pro editor functions. To do so, hold down the shift key at the start up and Avid Xpress Pro will bypass Digi Core Audio, enabling Avid Xpress Pro to launch without a problem.

I used the link that was posted and followed the directions, but when I opened the effect palette and selected time warp, there were a number of options. When I put any number of these effects (No, not all at once) on the time line and opened the effect editor, I couldn't edit the effect. Are there any frame rate conversion tutorials that are a bit more clear? I'm using DV Xpress Pro HD, version 5.2.4.

I've grown lazy in the past few months and need to start adding more.  I'll see what I can get too in the next few days.  In the meanwhile, submit your tips like Kevin said!  I'll use them as much as anyone!

Re: TIPS and TRICKS from the Avid Community Toolbox

I glommed this from the Xpress Studio PC forum.  It's by erik1185. Really looks cool...at least to me. I can't resist "messing up" video.  Maybe it can be added to the "Tips and Techniques" up above.

    Re: User Tips/Techniques/Questions/Comments

Heres a tip I came up with from just messing around. This makes your video kinda look like it was painted.. (atleast it did for the footage I was using.)

    1. Drop the DFT fast blur effect on your video on layer 1 (Make the blur amount about 10 for both horizontal and vertical)

    2. Copy the video onto layer 2 (without the blur applied.)

    3. Add the transfer AVX plug-in to the video on layer 2.

    4. Change the mode to "Darken"

    Here's the whole thread:

    Thanks Erik!   JR

Huh??? I have been using Avid Protools and Avid Xpress Pro HD on the same system without any problems. Only upgrading to protools 7.0/7.1 including DVtoolkit 2.0 gives DAE errors in Avid.
Or do you mean that only is valid for XpPro?
