This is a petition to Avid to let us know when we can expect support for HDV1 (JVC's 720p version) and DVCPRO 720p at 25 or 50 fps. Avid - some of us in Europe have businesses based around your products and we also have clients that need post solutions NOW. There is support for 30/60fps so I'm sure it's not impossible. You promised 'within weeks' in September 2005. Where is it? We need information.
This subject has been covered in many posts but I thought it would be a good idea to send a loud and clear message to Avid that we would like some information at the very least. If you're another disgruntled customer in PAL land (or, indeed, elsewhere) please post below.
Thanks
Sorry Filmguy, I should have mentioned 24p as well. In fact, most HD100 owners must be really upset by now. Apple haven't been quick either - but at least there are decent work-arounds for FCP and - most importantly - Apple have bothered to communicate with their customers on the issue, which puts Avid to shame when you consider that most Avid customers are paying a lot more for their kit.
Please sign up everyone and keep this thread alive.
Yes in full sooth

Well, thank God for small mercies! At least someone is listening. HOWEVER: I don't think anyone doubted that full 720p support would come eventually so it's not a huge surprise or relief that it's in the pipeline. That there is no date to report strongly suggests that there is nothing imminent, which I find deeply disappointing. If there was a viable alternative system then I'd be off. In fact, if Apple comes out with full support any time soon and Avid is still not committing then we'll be replacing our systems fast. In the meantime, we're off to learn FCP anyway!
Thanks for adding your names to this thread and I really hope we'll be celebrating some good news soon.
GPR:I Avid should immediately reduce the price of all their "HD" products in the PAL marketplace, or give us a date for the implentation of PAL 720p flavours. .
Vote.
I personally need 720p 25 and 720p 24.
