End of Life Notification -- MediaStream 8000

Dear Valued Avid Customer:
We are writing to inform you about the end of production of the Avid MediaStream 8000 playout server and its associated components.
Our decision to stop producing transmission servers is in response to the changing needs of our customers. While broadcasters continue to look to Avid as their primary vendor for a range of workflow solutions, MediaStream’s architecture does not provide the format flexibility and cost per channel the market now demands. Additionally, because Avid’s editing and broadcast solutions – and automation systems from Sundance Digital – already offer smooth integration with major transmission server vendors, we believe that our customers will be better served when we give them the flexibility to choose the transmission server that best meets their needs.
Avid will accept orders for MediaStream 8000 systems, components and spare parts until June 30, 2008. Last scheduled ship date for the product will be September 30, 2008, subject to availability, while inventory exists.
Avid will continue to offer support options for MediaStream 8000 customers for 5 years from the official end of production, or until September 30, 2013.
