Archive Manager
Archive Manager
The Sundance Archive Manager™ (SAM) provides the interface between Titan™, FastBreak Automation NXT™, or Server Manager for TimeLiner™ and popular archive management "middleware" solutions, such as those from Avalon, Masstech, SGL, Front Porch Digital and others.
The Sundance application manages media on the server and the archive, deciding which clips should be sent to or retrieved from the near-line storage sub-system. The powerful SQL-based databases in Sundance Digital applications give the user a great deal of flexibility in making archiving decisions. For example, the database can be queried to display all elements more than three days old and have been played to air at least once during that time. Those elements may then be sent to the archive as a group, eliminating the need for an operator to laboriously search the entire database for each element. In addition, elements may be classified into predefined "groups" to make the storage, retrieval, and deletion processes more efficient.
The Sundance Archive Manager™ application communicates with "middleware" archive management to issue "pull from," "send to" and "delete from" requests to near-line storage. The archive management package handles physical control of the library sub-system and movement between the server and archive, as directed by Sundance. Using a third party archive management solution allows the client to choose the most appropriate and cost-effective server/archive combination to meet the facility's needs.
The Sundance Archive Manager application is included with the Sundance Archive Engine. Click here to review.
