Overview

Sundance Digital Titan

Sundance Digital Titan is our most expandable broadcast automation system.  Designed around a distributed processing model, Titan systems can be engineered to manage nearly any number of channels along with ingest and storage requirements. Titan also offers the most opportunity for redundancy with a range of options from mirrored channels all the way to full disaster recovery.  The system also offers a variety of choices to accommodate central-casting  designs.

The core technology behind Sundance Automation is the List Processor.  Titan's List Processor is a compact executable with one mission –  to run a single channel playlist in real-time. With only a status and maintenance GUI, multiple List Processors can run concurrently on a server. Each List Processor computer is independent, with its own SQL server and frequently refreshed copy of the media database. Now in its second version, List Processor runs with a low memory footprint and is highly efficient in its use of processor resources. A first choice for fault-tolerant redundancy is to add TitanSync, which runs a mirrored set of List Processors.

Titan comes standard with SIDON Device Control - the Sundance Integrated Device Operations Network, our powerful, expandable TCP/IP-based machine control architecture. The SIDON server frame-accurately controls most broadcast hardware. Drivers are continually added to our pool of "Sundance Certified" devices, and users in good standing have unlimited access to the full library at no added cost.

Titan benefits from more than a decade of Sundance Digital's transmission automation experience, and takes advantage of proven Sundance technologies, such as Intelli-Sat for satellite recording, Sundance Archive Manager to manage near-line archiving, and Digital Delivery Management System to manage file-based ingest. Titan owners can be assured of a robust automation system that will meet current requirements and future expansion plans.

Every Titan system includes a custom-written traffic interface. Software comes pre-installed on rack mountable enterprise-grade Windows workstations with mirrored hard drives and redundant, hot-swappable power supplies for greater reliability. Redundancy may be even further enhanced by adding a fault-tolerant external SQL Data Server and TitanSync with auto-failover capability. Expand and upgrade Titan even further by adding playlists or functionality options, such as News Recorder to automate the process of re-purposing live programming recorded to the video server or Web Inventory for low resolution screening of stored broadcast content.
