Avid Media Composer version 2.8
This release includes additional codec support, enhancements, issue resolutions, and quality improvements, over version 2.7.7.
For Registered Avid Media Composer 2.7 Users
All registered users of Avid Media Composer version 2.7 or higher automatically qualify for the version 2.8 software. Media Composer 2.8 does not require a dongle update if you are running 2.7 or higher. This update, available via download, includes the version 2.8 application for Windows XP or Mac OS X, README files and installation instructions.
After installing one of the Avid Media Composer updates, you may also want to download and install the items found in the corresponding goodies.zip file. The goodies download includes plug-ins for use in Avid Media Composer plus demos of third-party software that will allow you to get more out of your editing system.
IMPORTANT NOTE - For version 2.7 only: This release is for registered customers of Avid Media Composer v2.7 or higher. If you are running an earlier release, you will need to upgrade your software through a chargeable upgrade.
IMPORTANT NOTE- Avid Unity ISIS: We strongly recommend that Avid Unity ISIS customers only upgrade their Avid editing systems after they have installed the Avid Unity ISIS v1.4 upgrade. This upgrade is available free of charge for customers with a valid Support contract from the Support Contract Section of the Avid Download Center.
OS Compatibility
Avid Media Composer v2.8 now supports Mac OS X v10.4.11. Mac OSX Leopard and Microsoft Vista support is planned for a future release.
Mac Goodies Folder Contents
Please Note: The Goodies Folder content has been reduced. Older items from past Goodies Folders will not work on Media Composer v2.8 editing systems. .
Avid Unity Support
Avid Media Composer 2.8 has support for Avid Unity ISIS 1.4. Avid Media Composer v2.8 is also supported in Avid Unity MediaNetwork v4.1.5, v4.2.1, v4.2.3 and 5.0, and Avid Unity ISIS v1.2 v1.3 and v1.3a environments.
Avid Media Composer and MediaManager
Avid Media Composer v2.5.x and higher (including v2.8) does not work with MediaManager. MediaManager customers can use Avid Media Composer v2.5.x or later if they upgrade from MediaManager to Avid Interplay. Avid Workgroup Productivity Tools customers (MediaManager, TransferManager) that would like to purchase upgrades to Avid Interplay should contact their Avid reseller or Avid Inside Sales at 800-949-2843 for pricing and availability. Customers that wish to continue to use MediaManager must continue to use Avid Media Composer v2.1.x or earlier versions of software.
