MC 101 Introduction to Avid Media Composer
This course introduces students to the concepts of nonlinear editing using all basic features of the Avid Media Composer system for Macintosh and Windows. Session time is divided between demonstration and hands-on practice, with ample time for experimentation with sample material. This course is also appropriate for Avid Symphony users.


MC 201 Editing Tools and Techniques for Media Composer
Experienced Avid Media Composer or Symphony editors gain greater productivity by mastering the system’s sophisticated editing features and tools. Students learn advanced navigation and shortcuts, along with advanced toolsets including MultiCamera, ScriptSync, and audio sweetening tools. Sessions include instructor-led demonstration and hands-on practice.


MC 205 Effects Tools and Techniques for Avid Media Composer
This course provides in-depth workflow knowledge of Advanced Keyframing, the Paint Effects, Matte Keys, Chroma Key and Luma Key effects, and advanced effect design techniques. The course is divided between modules which present the techniques you need to effectively operate the Avid system along with explanatory material, and exercises that provide hands-on practice. During the exercises, you create and combine effects to achieve real-world results.


MC 239 Basic Color Correction with Avid Media Composer
This course explains the fundamental techniques for color correcting shots or enhancing the look of a program on Avid Media Composer and will prepare you to work effectively with a colorist. Lessons are divided between demonstration and hands-on practice.


MC 202 Documentary Editing Workflow with Avid Media Composer
This two-day workshop is designed for Avid Media Composer editors who want to learn about specific workflow issues for documentary editing. Using material and examples from a current documentary, the class addresses workflow, as well as advanced bin organization, Script Integration, scene construction, and useful effects. Sessions include instructor-led demonstration, review of examples, and hands-on practice.


MC 203 Film Editing Workflow with Avid Media Composer
Students learn to work with film and 24p media, as well as RED footage, DI (digital intermediates), and stereoscopic (3D) material on Avid Media Composer through a combination of instructor-led lecture, demonstration, and hands-on practice.


MC 220 Conforming on Media Composer
Designed for the intermediate to advanced user, this course teaches an assistant editor how to bring media into an Avid Media Composer or Avid Symphony, manage that media through both the offline and online process, and how to output that media in a variety of forms to specification. When taken with the SN324 for finishing, this course completes the skill set for today’s online editor.


SN 324 Finishing on Avid Symphony
This course teaches project organization strategies and procedures for moving a project from the Avid offline to the Avid online finish with Avid Symphony. The editor will learn the ins and outs working with hardware scopes, efficient processes and workflows for conforming a project, and how to use the advanced finishing tools available in Avid Symphony, including tracking and color correction.
