Avid Certified Instructor (ACI) Program
The Avid Certified Instructor (ACI) Program is a comprehensive program that provides training and technical services to qualified educators, editors, consultants and trainers who service users of Avid products. The Program is designed to ensure instructional consistency and quality in the delivery of Avid Technology courses, using Avid provided courseware.
ACI Certification Process
An Avid Certified Instructor applicant must complete an application and pre-work exam designed to assess product knowledge. Upon receiving the application, the Avid Educational Services staff will contact applicants and conduct a telephone interview.
Candidates for the Instructor Certification Program must attend an Avid Train-the-Trainer course to acquire thorough knowledge of the certified couseware and to learn effective instructional methods. The Train-the-Trainer course includes role-playing exercises, presentations and extensive practical and written examinations.
Upon successful completion of the Train-the-Trainer course, ACI candidates will co-teach with another Certified Instructor. Final certification will be based on the quality of the student and co-teacher evaluations from this first class. If the ACI applicant performs well at all stages of the process, then he/she will receive an Avid Certified Instructor Certificate.
Instructor Certification is available for the following products:
- Avid Media Composer (entry-level through advanced)
- Avid Symphony Nitris
- Avid Xpress Pro
- Avid DS

Annual Re-certification Process
Avid certifies ACIs for a period of one (1) year. Additional product and training materials will be supplied to keep existing instructors up to date. Additional training may be required if there are significant changes in either the courseware or the Avid software. There is a yearly re-certification fee to cover the cost of updated manuals and instructor guides. To maintain certification ACIs must conduct an Avid Authorized class at least once per quarter or demonstrate to Avid's satisfaction active usage of Avid product.
