Avid Customers Triumph at the BAFTA® Film Awards

Winners and nominees embrace Avid Everywhere to create films honored at the U.K.’s most prestigious film awards

Avid® (Nasdaq: AVID) today congratulated its many customers recognized for their craft as winners and nominees at the British Academy Film Awards 2015, hosted by the British Academy of Film & Television Arts (BAFTA®) in London on Sunday, February 8. The world’s most respected creative professionals embraced Avid Everywhere™, using Avid Artist Suite creative solutions powered by the Avid MediaCentral Platform to craft award-winning films, including Best Film winner Boyhood, and nominees The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Theory Of Everything, Birdman and The Imitation Game.

In the Best Editing category, all six nominated films were cut using the industry’s preeminent editing solution, Media Composer® | Software. The winner was Tom Cross for Whiplash. Fellow nominees were Douglas Crise and Stephen Mirrione for Birdman, Barney Pilling for The Grand Budapest Hotel, Jinx Godfrey for The Theory Of Everything, William Goldenberg for The Imitation Game and John Gilroy for Nightcrawler.

Best Sound nominees who relied on the industry standard Pro Tools® | Software included Thomas Varga, Martin Hernández, Aaron Glascock, Jon Taylor, and Frank A. Montaño forBirdman, Walt Martin, John Reitz, Gregg Rudloff, Alan Robert Murray and Bub Asman forAmerican Sniper, John Midgley, Lee Walpole, Stuart Hilliker, and Martin Jensenn for The Imitation Game. With Thomas Curley, Ben Wilkins and Craig Mann picking up the award for Whiplash. Best Original Music nominee Hans Zimmer used Pro Tools and System 5 to create the music forInterstellar.
