Rich Remis attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated in 1997 with a degree in communication arts and also studied journalism and documentary film. He got his start working as a production coordinator on a documentary series in Boston called All Bird TV for Animal Planet. Rich worked in the field as well as in post and it was there where he first shadowed an editor and got his first look at Avid Media Composer. He wouldn’t learn Avid until later, when he attended a film camp in Portland, OR.

Rich eventually made his way down to Los Angeles and wanted to work in the post-production world. He was an assistant editor for several years before making the jump to editor. He has been working as a freelance editor now for the last 25 years in Los Angeles working on scripted, documentary, and reality television programs. Rich currently works on The Voice for NBC as an editor and has been with the show primarily since Season 3. Other notable editing credits include World’s Toughest Race: Eco-Challenge Fiji, Survivor, America's Got Talent, The Bachelor, The Contender, Rockstar, The Apprentice, The Biggest Loser, The Casino, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Master Chef, and Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?. Rich has been nominated seven times for an Emmy for work on The Voice, Amazing Race, and The Contender.

Rich’s career as an editor continues to take him on interesting and engaging projects with great and talented people. He had the opportunity to work in Thailand, Singapore, England, and various cities across the US. His editing experience includes reality competition, docudrama, documentary, pilots, game shows, sizzles, and presentations.

Rich continues to look for production teams that are strong and passionate and enjoy telling good stories. He always loved the craft of editing, the process and collaboration with a team, and the impact that stories can have on the general audience.
