SFJAZZ Center Selects Avid VENUE Profile and SC48 Systems to Provide Unrivaled Sound Quality

Burlington, MA, 22/04/2013

Proven technology chosen to deliver exceptional quality and performance worthy of world-renowned, state-of-the-art jazz concert hall

Avid® (NASDAQ: AVID) today announced that the new SFJAZZ Center recently installed the VENUE Profile, in the front of house position, and VENUE SC48 systems, for monitors and small events. These two solutions, integrated with Pro Tools®, provide the consistent, quality sound and performance that jazz music requires.

The SFJAZZ Center, which opened Jan. 21, has been featured in The New York Times, and sits in the heart of San Francisco's Civic Center performing arts district. It is the country's first free-standing performance venue built specifically for jazz music and enthusiasts. The center was designed by an award-winning team, including Sam Berkow of SIA Acoustics.

"Jazz music is fundamentally about nuance and tone," said Berkow. "The choice of Avid VENUE consoles at the new SFJAZZ Center helps to ensure that the audience—both in the hall and listening in via recording or broadcast—will hear the musical interplay and feel the energy that is so important to jazz."

The Avid VENUE systems deliver exceptional sound quality, reliability, flexibility, and ease-of-use, plus studio-grade plugin processing support and seamless Pro Tools integration. In addition to the two VENUE systems, the SFJAZZ Center also installed an Avid Pro Tools HDX2 system with a 24-fader ICON D-Command® ES control surface.

"Perfect sound production is just as important to a live performance as it is to an in-studio performance. We're honored to have our solutions selected in such a unique and prestigious venue as the SFJAZZ Center," said Dana Ruzicka, vice president of Segment and Product Marketing at Avid. "The rider-friendly VENUE consoles easily satisfy the wide range of artists and engineers that SFJAZZ hosts, ensuring the types of world class performances jazz musicians and audiences so greatly deserve."
