Integrate designers into your MediaCentral workflow

Forget having to switch between Maestro | Designer and MediaCentral for graphics production. MediaCentral | Cloud UX is now integrated as a panel within the Maestro | Designer interface, giving graphic designers easy access to all of the powerful media search, browse, and preview capabilities MediaCentral offers—right inside of Maestro | Designer. You can even drag and drop media directly to the object tree or RenderEngine preview window. And journalists using MediaCentral | Cloud UX can easily insert assets into Maestro | News templates from the field.

Archive graphics directly into MediaCentral

With extended MediaCentral integration, you can now archive graphics and scenes into MediaCentral | Asset Management directly from the MediaCentral | Cloud UX panel in Maestro | Designer. Not only does this make it easier for designers to archive and recall content quickly and create additional metadata for each scene—without leaving the Maestro | Designer interface—it enables your design and editorial teams to better manage your ever-growing graphics library and collaborate more easily, with full search, browse, and preview capabilities.

Enable back-to-back playback

With the new Maestro | Designer video playback engine, you can now play a variety of video content back to back—including Avid DNxHR, DNxHD, XDCAM, MOV with alpha channel, and AVC media. Get content on air faster without the fuss and take advantage of new playback capabilities, including start time scheduling, audio mapping, reversing clips, changing speed, and more.

Bring content to life with animation

Design cool effects, motion graphics, or alter the look of an object over time. With easy-to-use animation tools, you can set keyframes along the timeline with just a click. The expanded animation window features both “dope sheet” and “curves” timeline views, so you can edit your work in a familiar environment. You can even create events that cascade through the scene—triggered by animation playback—without scripting. Or add multiple tickers that run simultaneously.

Boost efficiency with advanced tools and features

Along with the 64-bit performance boost, you also get revved up functionality. Maximize efficiency with the Expression Editor, which now offers color-coding, auto-complete, error checking, and data path connections functionality. Manage objects and scenes more easily with the Batch Renaming tool. Resize and wrap text box copy. Create mirrored environments easily with Mirror Geometry. Group objects fast with a shortcut. And so much more.

Turn bitmaps into vector graphics

We listened and are excited to bring a frequently requested feature to Maestro | Designer. With the newly enhanced Cut editor, you can now load an image into the background of the editor and have an artist trace the outline, making it fast and easy to turn a bitmap image into a vector graphic.

Accelerate animation creation

Maestro | Designer makes what’s old new again. With its cut and split animation features, you can now extract any part of an existing animation group for reuse in a new animation, dramatically cutting down the time needed to edit and adjust animations, while expanding your creative possibilities.

Maestro | Designer offers resolution independent authoring, so you can create graphics in any format and aspect ratio. View safe areas for 4:3 and 16:9, with layout options for cropping, scaling, and alignment. Access multiple views for visualizing complex 3D environments. You can even view extreme aspect ratios when designing for video walls—without the need for hardware. Plus, text will always look sharp—no matter the resolution—thanks to unique font-rendering features.


Gain more masking flexibility

With the “per object” mask, you can quickly mask a single object without affecting all other objects in the scene, making it easy to crop out elements. And with mask groups, you can assign masks to different objects, effectively allowing an unlimited number of masks to exist within a scene.

Assets are the building blocks of any template. These include 2D and 3D object primitives, textures, predefined materials, fonts, effects, and other elements. Speed up review and approvals

With new improvements and advancements made to RenderEngine, creating and sending previews of the content for which you seek editorial approval has never been easier. You can now send scene content directly to RenderEngine’s internal VideoEngine—locally or remotely—to render a clip or sequence of images displaying the scene content. This eliminates the added steps of having to externally capture content or use Maestro | News or Maestro | TX to render files.

Maestro | Designer easily integrates into any studio graphics workflow. It supports popular 2D graphics and other formats, including BMP, DDS, GIF, JPEG, TIFF, TGA, PNG, PDF, SVG, PPT, TTF, and OTF. It preserves Photoshop layers through PSD import, and Adobe motion graphics assets through the Maestro | Designer After Effects plugin. It interfaces with 3D modeling software, including 3ds Max, Maya, and Cinema 4D. And it supports FBX, OBJ, DAE, DXF, 3DS, LWS, X3D, and VRML 3D models.

The plugin supports basic shapes, colors, materials, textures, texts, masks, keyframe animations, and layer/camera properties, and exports them as a native Maestro | Designer scene file.
