The Key to Newsroom Collaboration
Collaboration is core to Avid. It has been one of the fundamental building blocks of our workflows for more than a quarter of a century, supporting newsrooms and delivering breaking stories across the globe. The latest release of MediaCentral | Collaborate takes it to another level.
Over the last 25 years, the world of news has evolved from the traditional morning, lunchtime, or evening show on TV to rolling twenty-four-hour news channels. And it’s developed even further to embrace an always-on culture with online platforms delivering the news to the audience regardless of where they are or what device they are using.
The teams are also more distributed. Spending less time in the office, they need applications that work just as well in the field as they do on the newsdesk. But while the world of news may have changed, one thing has remained constant—the need for teams to work together as efficiently as possible, regardless of the platform on which they’re delivering their stories.
The MediaCentral | Collaborate app—which is available through subscription both in the web-based MediaCentral | Cloud UX and on mobile—brings together planning, task creation, task management, and project tracking. And in the new release, there’s a whole new degree of collaboration.

NOTES EDITOR
Storytelling or program-making is about teamwork. The new Notes Editor enables multiple people to work together in the same document at the same time, and even allows you to see who is working with you, as well as the changes they make—unless Ninja Mode is enabled, allowing you to work privately. You can use the notes editor to share vital information with the team, or even to write your script.
NOTIFICATIONS
You can make sure your team always knows what they’re doing through the new Notification Center. Get notifications in MediaCentral | Cloud UX on the web, via email, and on your phone. Wherever you are, stay on top of everything.
ASSIGNMENT DUPLICATION
It’s not uncommon for the same job to take place every week, like a sports press conference before a big game or a regular set piece debate in Parliament. Now, you can duplicate assignments with all the details, and save the planning team valuable time by cutting out the laborious task.
MOBILE APP
The ability to work as effectively on location as in the office is a key element in the MediaCentral | Collaborate approach. Now users can view the contents of a Media Container linked to an Assignment in the MediaCentral | Collaborate mobile app, giving them greater visibility of all of the assets related to the story they are working on.
CONCLUSION
With the new features in MediaCentral | Collaborate, you can get all your teams working together—no matter if it’s your news team preparing a story for broadcast, online, or social, or if it’s your production team planning their next shoot. On web or mobile. In the office or on location.
