Version 2.5 of video server adds key capabilities for high-quality news, sports, and TV entertainment production

Avid® (NASDAQ: AVID) today announced the latest version Avid AirSpeed® 5000, providing broadcasters with valuable new capabilities for producing compelling news, sports, and TV entertainment content. Version 2.5 includes three key new features:

  • Slow motion playback for SD and HD — Extends AirSpeed 5000 capability to deliver broadcast-quality slow motion playback on any channel for sports and live event programming under AirSpeed Remote Console or external control.
  • Fast media replay — Low latency Play While Record feature that allows near-instantaneous ingest to playback turnaround, quickly delivering content for live broadcast events and breaking news.
  • Continuous record — Provides easy and seamless capture of long events on any channel without duration restrictions, eliminating the need for ingest scheduling workarounds.

Tightly integrated with Avid industry-standard production workflow solutions, version 2.5 of AirSpeed 5000 can either sit as a standalone device or form the heart of a seamless end-to-end production operation encompassing Avid’s Interplay® Production Asset ManagementAvid ISIS® shared storage, Media Composer 7® and NewsCutter® editing systems.

Version 2.5 of AirSpeed 5000 is expected to be available in April 2013. Pricing for AirSpeed 5000 version 2.5 starts at $40,000 USD for a dual-channel MPEG-2 HD system to $71,700 USD for a four-channel AVC Intra HD solution. AirSpeed includes one year of Avid support.
