Avid | Stream IO Next Gen Solution for Ingest and Playout
Video servers are an essential part of any news or broadcast production workflow, a seamless way of getting media quickly to the editorial team, and a critical component when it comes to studio playout. Avid is launching a new ingest and playout solution which meets those demands and much more to future-proof any investments.
Avid | Stream IO is a new, four-channel ingest and playout broadcast video solution, combining the ability to handle traditional SDI feeds (available at launch) with compressed* and uncompressed** IP streams which will be available in a later release.
The broadcast video solution is offered as a software subscription and can be deployed on- premises on physical hardware, which meets certain specifications, or in an instance in the cloud.
Avid | Stream IO is the ideal video server for news, sports, live production, multi-camera production, and general production workflows. It is tightly integrated into the MediaCentral ecosystem, for video viewing, logging, and editing. Crucially, those already using Avid Airspeed for their ingest and playout needs can easily deploy Avid | Stream IO with no disruption to their downstream production workflows.
With support for the creation of both OpAtom and OP1A media, Avid | Stream IO fits into a wide range of production scenarios – for example, an environment using non-Avid storage or non-Avid editors.
For scenarios where multiple Avid | Stream IO servers are deployed, it can also be controlled remotely by MediaCentral | Acquire or by MediaCentral | Capture for ingest or by MediaCentral | Command for playout. It is also flexible enough to be controlled by non-Avid controllers, such as studio automation software applications.
Avid | Stream IO comes with the flexibility of subscription and COTS hardware options. Customers can purchase the specified hardware themselves rather than being tied into a proprietary hardware platform. A variety of options will be available – low, mid, and high performance depending on the workflow – providing an adaptable solution for customers.
It supports the most used broadcast formats and codecs, including HD and UHD and formats in 23.98ps frame rates.
With a software architecture which is inherently adaptable to meet new requirements in the future, as well as the needs of today, Avid | Stream IO is the ideal solution.
*Compressed IP streams such as SRT and RTMP
** Uncompressed IP streams using the SMPTE ST 2110 standard
