Avid Enhances Sibelius To Deliver MIDI Interoperability with Avid Pro Tools
Latest Music Notation Software Release Brings New Innovations to Market for Composers, Publishers, and Educators
BURLINGTON, Mass., March 7, 2024 – Avid® has integrated a suite of new tools for composers, arrangers, and educators with the latest release of its Sibelius® music notation software, Sibelius 2024.3.
Interoperability between Pro Tools & Sibelius
With Sibelius 2024.3, users can now seamlessly copy and paste MIDI data between Sibelius and Avid’s music production software Pro Tools®, allowing them to save days of work otherwise spent creating music compositions from scratch in parallel applications.
Composers and producers using Sibelius alongside Pro Tools benefit from this innovative integrated workflow, and early users of the latest interoperability are already saving invaluable time in their work. GRAMMY®-winning film composer, songwriter and producer Simon Franglen shared: “I cannot explain what a sea change this is; it has completely transformed my world. The sheer amount of time and energy that I have saved today has been incredible.”
Automated Workflows for Publishers & Power Users
The latest software release also includes a new interface capability – Sibelius Connect™. This enables publishers, orchestrators, and other professionals using external control devices with Sibelius to trigger pre-automated workflows from their device – allowing them to manage the complexities associated with editing large quantities of scores and parts with incredible efficiency.
Usability and experience enhancements
The latest release also benefits from several functionality enhancements to the on-screen keypad. Users can now resize the keypad on their desktop screens, increasing accessibility for those with poorer eyesight and helping those with lower resolution screens. Those preferring to use Sidecar on iPad can now operate the keypad with Apple Pencil.
These interaction improvements build on Sibelius’s continued focus on making music composition and arrangement as free flowing as possible.
Francois Quereuil, VP of Product Management for Audio at Avid, adds: "It’s incredibly important for us to continue bridging gaps between experiences to better connect creative workflows. When we remove friction in the creation process, we’re able to support better, more fluid collaboration between people, allowing greater work to make its way into the world.”
Android Availability Coming Soon
Avid has also announced Sibelius for Android and Chromebook – currently in beta testing – is due to be available later this year. Interested users can sign up to preview Android and provide feedback by visiting: https://www.avid.com/resource-center/sibelius-is-coming-soon-to-android.
