Avid wins Engineering, Science & Technology Emmy® Award for development of Avid DNx
Avid’s 20th Emmy recognizes Avid DNx for enabling television and film production teams to work faster with more freedom while preserving quality and creative intent
BURLINGTON, Mass., September 3, 2026 – Avid® today announced that it has been awarded an Engineering, Science & Technology Emmy® Award by the Television Academy for the development of Avid DNx™, marking the company’s 20th Emmy Award. Avid DNx is the production codec family that has become a foundation of modern TV production worldwide, helping teams work faster and more reliably at scale.
The Emmy Award honors the work of the Avid team behind the development of Avid DNx: Shailendra Mathur, Markus Weber, Katie Cornog, Dane Kottke, and Michel Rynderman, whose contributions have helped the technology continually evolve to meet the changing demands of television and film production.
Designed specifically for professional media workflows, Avid DNx enables production teams to edit, review, and finish high-quality media with the speed and reliability required for television and film production. By preserving image quality while enabling smooth, real-time playback across complex, multi-stream timelines, DNx helps editors and post-production teams work faster, reduce unnecessary transcoding, and maintain creative intent from ingest through finishing. Its efficient intraframe design also enables responsive performance on standard computing platforms, supporting fast-turnaround, distributed, and live production workflows without requiring dedicated hardware.

Avid will receive the award at the 2026 Engineering, Science & Technology Emmy® Awards ceremony on Wednesday, October 14 at the Saban Media Center at the Television Academy, North Hollywood, California.
