Avid celebrates film and TV editors at the ACE Eddie Awards

Nominee board features editor autographs at Avid’s Eddie Awards party

Over 1,000 feature film and television editors, producers, and directors recently turned out for a pre-award party before the 73rd Annual ACE Eddie Awards held at UCLA’s Royce Hall. Hosted by Avid, the party brought together the industry’s most accomplished editors, including the 2023 Eddie Awards honorees and nominees. Attendees mingled and celebrated their colleagues, one another, and their storytelling artistry.

Avid has hosted the reception for many years to acknowledge the editing community’s use of Avid Media Composer and other Avid products. In fact, most of the award nominees utilize Media Composer to edit their work.

“The amount of talent in that room and at the event just blows my mind!” said Michael Krulik, Avid Product Marketing & Video Product Evangelist. “Throughout the evening editors came up to thank us for supporting them, their craft, the ACE organization, and hosting the best way to kick off the Eddies with the Avid pre-award party.”

Avid is a major sponsor of the Eddie Awards which recognizes outstanding editing in 14 categories of film, television, and documentary. Guests were greeted by Avid’s leadership including CEO Jeff Rosica; Chief Customer Officer & SVP Deb Sanders; GM, Video & Media Solutions & SVP Tim Claman; VP Product Management David Colantuoni, and Senior Director for Artist Relations Matt Feury who flew in from across the country for the event. Nominees put their signatures on a board printed with their names and the film, television show, or documentary they were nominated for. The autographed board will be on display at Avid’s Burbank offices and studios.

Avid is the only video editing software company to ever receive an ACE Eddie Award for technical excellence.

“Avid’s part of a very closely knit community, especially around Hollywood, where we feel right at home,” Sanders said. “More often than not, we’re hard at work together on their workflows or tackling big issues through the Avid Community Association, so it’s particularly rewarding to be among these stellar creative people to celebrate their talents and achievements.”
