Create Collab Deliver

Staying relevant in the breaking news world means providing accurate and up-to-the-minute updates to audiences on multiple platforms and devices. To get the job done requires tools and technology for news teams to create, collaborate, and deliver quality content fast and first.

In a recent on-demand virtual event, Avid product experts Daliah Naor, Régis André, and Craig Wilson demonstrated how Avid’s news solutions help media organizations plan, ingest, create, share, and publish content whether they are on the scene, in the newsroom, or somewhere in between. Through artificial intelligence (AI), Avid enables seamless, collaborative media production, streamlines workflows from content planning and creation to distribution, and is now looking to take advantage of developments in AI and machine learning (ML).

AI support

Avid’s integrated suite of tools includes existing powerful AI capabilities in MediaCentral to enrich metadata and enable advanced search functions. A comprehensive platform for media production, MediaCentral provides quick and easy access to media, social media content, and newswires, as well as tools for viewing, logging and editing video, writing stories, and publishing content to broadcast channels, social media sites, and web-CMS platforms.

“We leverage different types of AI technologies together to create a seamless user experience that makes it easier,” explains André, Senior Director of Product Management.

Our suite of artistic digital assistant tools and AI driven solutions are helping our customers and our users do their jobs in a much more efficient way.

New is Avid Ada, a suite of AI-driven solutions that offer the possibility to boost efficiency and the creative process, which was shown as a tech preview during the virtual event.

A variety of ways in which AI could be used were demonstrated, including innovative ways to discover content using advanced semantic technologies which analyze text in a script to then suggest related footage automatically. The AI can also automatically generate summaries of interviews, transcripts, and even translations, which can be stored as time-based metadata. Put together, this has the potential to streamline many workflows.

Another application of Avid Ada is the use of a chatbot within an application like the web-based MediaCentral | Cloud UX.

“Avid Ada is the chat bot inside of MediaCentral | Cloud UX where you go in, ask questions, and then it comes back with answers,” remarks Wilson, Avid Product Evangelist for Video and Media. “We see this very much as AI assisting journalists.”

Full range of options

In the on-demand video, André provides an overview of the wide range of capabilities within MediaCentral and Wilson demonstrates how to use the solution and how it unites and simplifies your workflows.

The virtual event video offers an in-depth look at these and other tools and features offered by Avid news solutions, all designed to make your news production process faster, easier, and more efficient.

“We have thousands of customers worldwide using our powerful, end-to-end news solutions,” André says.
