Making the Media S6E03: How News Is Evolving and How You Can Keep Up

In this episode, you’ll hear about:

  • Why modernization must be phased, not disruptive, and how Avid Content Core and Wolftech News help organizations evolve on their own timeline and provide huge productivity boosts to news teams
  • How open APIs, AI, and deep integration support flexibility without forcing a “right way” to work or limit you to a rigid toolset
  • Why hybrid cloud and on‑prem deployments matter and how intentional hybrid design reduces risk while increasing speed and adaptability

The media industry is being reshaped by shifting revenue models, accelerating digital demands, and the demand for content. In a rapidly changing world, how does an executive team set strategies to ensure they stay ahead of the curve?

The real challenge is building a foundation that lets news organizations evolve without disrupting what already works.

In this episode of Making the Media, hosts Craig Wilson and Ray Thompson sit down with Tom Sharma, Chief Technology Officer at Avid, to discuss how Avid is rethinking the role of technology in news and media by moving beyond tools and formats to a story‑centric operating model that connects planning, production, distribution, and performance across digital and linear outputs. The conversation explores how open platforms, flexible deployment models, and intelligent automation help organizations move faster, coordinate better, and create more value from every story.

Hear how technology leaders can reduce friction, protect existing investments, and unlock the next phase of storytelling at scale on this episode of Making the Media.
