What's New in Avid NEXIS 2026.6
Avid NEXIS 2026.6 is available now
This release extends OS and platform support to modern enterprise Linux distributions, raises the active-client ceiling for AWS Cloud Storage deployments, adds PKIX certificate support to NEXIS VFS Gateway for organizations with strict security requirements, and delivers two long-requested improvements to the Management Console.
It also advances what matters most in shared media storage: sustained performance under pressure and the operational continuity teams depend on to keep media production moving. Here's what changed and what it means for your operation.
Update: Expanded Platform Qualification for Avid NEXIS Client 2026.6
Since the release of Avid NEXIS 2026.6, Avid has completed additional qualification testing for several important client platforms. Avid NEXIS Client 2026.6 now supports macOS Tahoe 26.5 and later with Apple built-in network adapters, Windows 11 version 25H2, Apple Silicon M5-based Mac systems, and the Avid NEXIS Ubuntu 24.04 Client on AWS and Azure.
No additional client update is required. If you are already running Avid NEXIS Client 2026.6, you can continue to use that installation and now deploy it on these newly qualified platforms. Support is extended back to the 2026.6 release, so teams can move forward without waiting for a separate client package.
Note for macOS Tahoe: Current support applies to Apple’s built-in network adapters only. Qualification for external adapters is still ongoing.
Keep Your Infrastructure Current
Rocky Linux is now a supported operating system for Avid NEXIS | VFS Gateway. For IT teams that standardized on Rocky Linux as their CentOS successor—which has become common across enterprise and broadcast environments—this means NEXIS | VFS Gateway fits into the existing OS footprint without requiring a separate, purpose-built exception. No more maintaining a parallel OS configuration just for one service.
Ubuntu 24.04 LTS client support arrives for Avid NEXIS | Cloud Storage on AWS. Facilities running current Ubuntu LTS workstations—whether on-premises or cloud-based—can now connect directly without pinning to an older OS version. This is particularly relevant for DevOps teams managing cloud edit environments, where staying on the current LTS is standard practice.
For organizations operating in regulated environments or subject to enterprise security audits, NEXIS | VFS Gateway now supports PKIX certificates. This single addition has historically been the blocker for deployment approvals at government broadcasters and large enterprise IT shops. With native PKIX support, those approvals can move forward without workarounds or exceptions.
More Room to Grow on AWS
The active client ceiling for Avid NEXIS | Cloud Storage on AWS has been raised to 600 simultaneous connections. For large post-production facilities, sports broadcasters, and multi-site operations that have been pushing against previous limits or planning cloud workflow expansion, this is meaningful headroom. Scaling cloud-based editing no longer requires a rearchitecting conversation.

Built for Performance When It Counts
NEXIS 2026.6 includes performance improvements validated across high-stress and failure scenarios, helping systems sustain dependable responsiveness when workloads spike, teams are collaborating, or the environment is operating under pressure. This keeps editors productive, productions on schedule, and shared assets available when deadlines are tight.
The Windows Client Installer also includes updates that streamline deployment in Windows-based editing environments.
Better Visibility in the Management Console
Two additions to the Avid NEXIS Management Console address a pair of persistent operational pain points.
System Status History gives ops teams a historical view of system state. When something goes wrong or to demonstrate that it didn't, the ability to look back at a system status timeline makes root-cause analysis faster and gives you data to support capacity planning and SLA reporting. The Management API documentation is now accessible directly from within the Management Console, and available publicly at https://api.nexis.avid.com/.
For administrators and integrators building automation with NEXIS, this removes the context-switch of hunting down external documentation during active configuration work.
Version Support Status
NEXIS 2026.6 is the current recommended release for all Avid NEXIS systems and clients. Avid NEXIS 2022.x and older versions are no longer supported. Versions 2023.x and 2024.x are no longer recommended for new installations. If your system is running any of these versions, now is the time to plan an upgrade.
