Pro Tools 2025.10 Now Available—What’s New

Pro Tools 2025.10 introduces Sony's 360 Reality Audio spatial music mixing and delivery, a new integrated SoundFlow panel to automate and accelerate a range of workflows, and Speech-to-Text enhancements to more efficiently analyze speech and lyric information. The release helps new users get up to speed with new interactive tutorials, delivers macOS Tahoe support, and offers annual subscribers and active perpetual customers a collection of free Inner Circle plugins and sounds, and makes it easier to navigate and customize the application with UI and preference updates. GET UP TO SPEED QUICKLY WITH IN-APP TUTORIALS

A new “Learn” panel (powered by SoundFlow) hosts interactive tutorials that cover a range of basic Pro Tools workflows like initial setup, recording, editing, and working with MIDI. These tutorials are designed to get new users up to speed quickly with simple guided tours that let them explore the tools and windows of the application.

ENHANCED IMMERSIVE PRODUCTION

With Pro Tools 2025.10, we’re taking the next step in immersive production. This release introduces support for alternative renderers, starting with WalkMix 360RA, giving creators even more flexibility in how they approach immersive mixing.

Users can now leverage existing mixes as starting points, streamlining the creative process and making it easier to adapt projects to alternative renderers.

Additionally, Pro Tools now supports maintaining multiple immersive mixes within a single session, ensuring that arrangement changes are automatically reflected across every mix. This makes managing complex, multi-renderer workflows more efficient and consistent than ever before.

This evolution empowers audio professionals to work more efficiently, stay flexible, and expand their immersive workflows—all within the environment they know and trust.

360 Reality Audio Production

As we shared above, Pro Tools 2025.10 supports mixing and delivering 360 Reality Audio—an immersive experience using object-based 360 Spatial Sound technology that lets you place sounds above or below, at front, to the side or behind.

Key features include:

• Ability to use 360RA WalkMix Renderer as an option in Pro Tools
• Pan data and assignments can be migrated, retained and managed between immersive formats.
• Bounce to active 360RA renderer
• Import to active 360RA renderer
• Spherical panner control of Pro Tools track pan data

When switching between renderers, Pro Tools automatically re-routes all tracks that were assigned to the previous renderer, directing them to the newly selected one. This ensures a smooth transition and keeps your session routing intact without manual reassignment. When returning to your initial renderer, the original assignments will be restored.

Pan Data Conversion in Pro Tools When Switching Renderers

When working with immersive audio in Pro Tools, moving between Dolby Atmos and 360 Reality Audio (360RA) will require pan data conversion, as each renderer uses different pan coordinates.

The first time you switch to a different renderer (and your session already contains existing pan controls or pan automation), Pro Tools will display a Pan Data Conversion dialog.

Why it matters

Without conversion, pan positions and automation would not translate correctly, potentially altering your mix’s spatial balance. The Pan Data Conversion bridges this gap, helping to preserve your creative intent as you move between immersive formats.

Quick Tip: Managing Assignments & Pan Data with Multiple Renderers

When working with sessions that use multiple renderers, you can manage track assignments and pan data through the Global Renderer Management menu. To access this menu, simply right-click on any track. From there, you can easily handle assignments and pan settings on a track-by-track basis.

Pro Tip: When you select multiple tracks, you can make bulk changes — such as changing, clearing, or converting assignments, as well as clearing pan data — all at once. This makes managing complex sessions faster and more efficient.

New Renderer Cluster View

You asked — and we listened.

The Renderer Cluster View has been added to the Edit Window Toolbar in Pro Tools 2025.10, giving you quick access to essential renderer functions and a clear, at-a-glance view of your current rendering setup.

This new interface streamlines your workflow, letting you change monitoring and manage renderer activity without leaving the Edit Window.

Key features include:

• Display and select the active renderer: Instantly view which renderer is currently in use and switch to another as needed.
• Display and select the current monitoring format: When supported by your chosen renderer, you can now see and adjust the active monitoring format directly from the toolbar.
• Open the renderer control panel: Access full renderer settings and controls with a single click.
• Enable or disable renderer functionality: Quickly toggle the renderer on or off right from the Edit Window.

How to access

• To show the Renderer Section do one of the following:
• Click the Edit Window Toolbar menu (in the upper-right corner of the window) and select “Renderer”.
• Right-click in the Toolbar and select “Renderer”.

With Renderer Cluster View, Pro Tools 2025.10 puts key immersive audio controls front and center—so you can focus less on navigation and more on creation.

Smarter Pan Data Preservation

In earlier versions of Pro Tools, changing or removing a track’s output could have unintended consequences—specifically, permanently deleting the track’s pan controls and automation data. Once gone, that data couldn’t be recovered.

With Pro Tools 2025.10, that’s a thing of the past. The new release introduces intelligent pan data preservation, giving you greater flexibility when managing outputs and sends.

What’s New

• Pan data linked to outputs is now preserved: When you change or remove a track’s output, Pro Tools will now retain its pan automation. If the track is routed to an incompatible output, the data is held in place and automatically restored when a compatible output is re-assigned.

• Smarter handling for sends

• Explicitly removing a send will still delete its associated pan data.
• Replacing a send with one that’s currently incompatible will preserve the data until a compatible send is re-applied.
• Dragging a send from another slot over an existing one will overwrite the pan data, as before.

Compatibility Note: If you open and save a 2025.10 session in Pro Tools 2025.6 or any earlier release, any preserved but unused or incompatible pan data will be discarded permanently.

Pro Tools 2025.10 gives you more flexibility working with automation data — so you can confidently re-route, reconfigure, and experiment without losing your mix moves.

SPEECH-TO-TEXT IMPROVEMENTS

Pro Tools 2025.6 introduced the Speech-to-Text Engine, a powerful new tool to transcribe spoken or sung audio content, enabling you to view, search, and edit by text. With Pro Tools 2025.10 we’ve expanded this functionality to include editing of transcriptions, transcribing files outside of sessions using the Workspace, separating a clip by word, sentence or speaker, new shortcuts and more!

Edit, Join, and Clear Words

Transcriptions can now be corrected by right-clicking one or more words in either the Edit window or the Transcript window. Within the Transcription sub-menu are three new options:

Edit Word - for editing (or splitting) a single word. 
Join Words - to combine multiple words. 
Clear Word(s) - to remove unwanted words.

All of these commands can also have custom keyboard shortcuts assigned for fast access, along with many other transcription operations.

Transcribe in the Workspace

When working with a large number of dialogue files from set, it is often not practical or desirable to import everything into the session, but it would still be useful to be able to transcribe these files to be able to search for usable alternates. So, with Pro Tools 2025.10 we have added Transcribe, Re-Transcribe and Clear Transcription commands to the Workspace right-click menu for both files and folders so that any number of files in the system can be transcribed in the background without even having a session open.

In addition, transcription data is now searchable from the Workspace using both Simple (“Any Text Column”) and Advanced search. And for interleaved multichannel or poly WAV files we have also added a Transcription Channel column so you can select which channel’s transcription is shown.

Transcript Window Improvements

The Transcript window has had the following new functionality added:

• Spot to Edit Insertion: Select one or more words in Files view and spot them right to your cursor.
• Separate Clip by Word/Sentence/Speaker: In Timeline view, split a clip into multiple based on individual words, sentences, or speakers.
• Filter clips on hidden tracks: Decide whether or not to show clips on hidden tracks.
• Search History: The last 20 words or phrases you have searched for in a session will be remembered.

Other Speech-to-Text Improvements

To speed up navigation and editing, the following shortcuts have been added:

• Command-click (Mac) or Control-click (Windows) a word in either the Transcript window (Timeline view) or the Edit window (Transcription Lane or Transcript view) to place the insert point at the beginning of the word and scroll it into view
• Command-Shift-click (Mac) or Control-Shift-click (Windows) a word in either the Transcript window (Timeline view) or the Edit window (Transcription Lane or Transcript view) to select the word, scroll it into view, and zoom to fit selection

Finally, to maintain optimal performance when playing back sessions with lots of transcription data in view, a new Reduce Visual Effects preference has been added to the Display tab to control the visibility of effects such as background transparency behind transcription text. It can be set to Always, During Playback, or Never.

AVID VIDEO ENGINE

We have recently been spending time looking into the operation of the Video Engine in Pro Tools, and have made the following improvements to performance and stability:

• The methods for establishing and maintaining clock with the audio engine have been refactored, resulting in a connection that is more stable and tolerant to error conditions.
• Improved robustness when accessing media from slower storage devices/systems.
• Performance and responsiveness is now much improved when rapidly transitioning between states such as stop, relocate and play.

Pro Tools 2025.10 is now available for all Pro Tools customers on an active subscription or perpetual license with current Upgrade Plan, as well as all Pro Tools Intro users.
