What is EUCON?

Everything you need to know to get hands on with your DAW or NLE

EUCON, short for Extended User Control, is Avid’s high-speed Ethernet protocol that enables the deepest integration possible between Avid control surfaces (like the S6, S4, and S1) and a variety of digital audio workstations (DAWs) and media applications. Whether you create music, or sound for picture, EUCON enables all Avid surfaces to connect and communicate with Avid and third-party audio, video, and monitoring applications.

HOW EUCON WORKS

Unlike traditional control protocols that rely on MIDI or USB, EUCON uses a high-speed Ethernet connection, allowing it to handle significantly more data and deliver faster response times that connect the control surface more fluidly and with greater access to actions within Pro Tools. EUCON enables real-time communication between Avid control surfaces and multiple DAWs or media applications, providing the flexibility to manage extensive, complex projects without the latency limitations of older protocols.

Through EUCON’s Ethernet connection, users can seamlessly control advanced workflows, such as immersive audio panning, custom layouts, hot keys, plugin control, and simultaneous multi-application support—all from a single surface. This setup makes EUCON especially valuable in professional environments where precision and speed are essential, and it allows users to focus more on creative work without manual reconnections or lag.

Control Plugins with Faders on the S1
Control plugins from the faders on your Avid control surface. The Flip button moves what parameters are currently on the encoders to the faders. You can move through the plugins parameter pages, and even make your own custom maps.
Spill VCA Groups With S1 & Avid Control
Avid controllers have intelligent integration with Pro Tools VCA groups. Double-tap a group master to immediately bring the tracks in the group to the faders. Press both the bank buttons to go back. Optionally you can have the group master jump to the last fader.
Navigate Sessions With S1 & Avid Control
With Avid controllers you never need to bank around looking for tracks, you can focus the surface to exactly the tracks you need. Tap a track on the the Avid Control app and your S1s or Dock will go straight there. This also focuses the track for panning and plugin control on the screen.
Spill Folder Tracks with Avid S1
Avid controllers allow fast navigation of your mix session. You can manage large sessions and bring different sections of your mix to the faders by double-tapping the select button on folder tracks.
Create Layouts with S1 and Avid Control
With Avid controllers you can create custom track views directly from the screen on your paired tablet. Recall different groups of tracks to the faders, independent of your DAW’s track layout.

From track names, channel metering, automation statuses, and plugin settings, to gain reduction meters, EQ graphs, and scrolling Pro Tools waveforms, you get the detailed information you need to create better mixes faster. Plus, recalling settings for each session is as easy as opening your session again.

Works with monitoring solutions

Integrated into Pro Tools | MTRX, Pro Tools | MTRX Studio, XMON, D-MON, DADman, and other monitoring solutions. Remotely control source selections, speaker cuts, fold downs, monitor profiles, signal routing, talkback, cues, and more for any monitoring situation—from mono to immersive audio.

Compatible Software

EUCON is compatible with many DAWs and NLEs and supports Mackie Control in workstations that don’t directly support EUCON. You can also control multiple applications or workstations from a single surface and quickly switch with the touch of a button or even place tracks from different applications on the surface simultaneously.
