APRIL 2025
We're pleased to announce the immediate availability of our third release of 2025.
This April release is packed with another batch of improvements and fixes.
Updates to Score Subsets & Dynamic Parts
- We’ve now added the ability to independently toggle the transposing score state in each Score Subset and the full score.
- The 'W' shortcut now cycles through each Dynamic Part and the full score of the selected stave
- Staff text is now assigned into all voices when entered using a passage or system selection to help each Dynamic Part display dynamics and technique text in each part.
Additional fixes
- Improved functionality with Kontakt 8 Player: you can now create a sound set for a newer sound library and Sibelius will automatically load the sounds
- When selecting a passage that only contains hidden objects, the visibility buttons in the Inspector no longer disappear.
- Sibelius now more reliably ensures what you select with Alt+Click is what’s copied and pasted into your score
- Sibelius will no longer automatically respace music of very old scores
- Tab numbers now no longer disappear when copying from notation staff.
- When changing the font of text on a blank page, Sibelius no longer jumps to the top of the score.
- Triplets with tremolos now play back correctly
MARCH 2025
We’re pleased to announce the immediate release and availability of our March 2025 release for Sibelius. This includes over 40 small improvements and bug-fixes, focusing on the most requested by our customers, for every device. Highlights include:
- Pitch Correction Tool on the Keypad now works on all selected notes
- Lines, articulations, text and lyrics are retained when changing the voice of a tuplet

What's New in Sibelius 2025.2
It's an absolute pleasure to announce the immediate availability of our February release of Sibelius. This comes after a successful previewing at the NAMM show in Anaheim, California, where Sibelius for Android and Chromebook won a TEC Award in the “Audio Apps & Hardware / Peripherals for Smartphones and Tablets” category! We want to thank the countless customers who voted for us, and we couldn’t be more proud!
New: Automatic Decondensing Parts
Sibelius will create two new Dynamic Parts from a single stave, rename them for you, and show only the music relevant to each player. This is all possible with a new feature called “Staff Filters.”

Other updates in 2025.2 include the following features and bug fixes:
- Highlights no longer eek into the next bar, so they don’t break multirests
- Independently mute instruments in the Mixer in each Score Subset and the full score
- Instrument changes placed on a Dynamic Guitar Tab Stave for other Dynamic Guitar Staves will no longer be shown as notation
- Kontakt 8 now appears as a “Kontakt” device rather than an ordinary VST/AU plugin
- Standard Magnetic Layout commands are now available on mobile
- Sibelius no longer crashes when setting any box to a number larger than 10 in the page margins in Document Setup
- Sibelius also no longer crashes when receiving MIDI events while running plugins
What’s New in Sibelius October 2024
We’re excited to announce the immediate availability of our October 2024 release of Sibelius across Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. These updates focused on supporting the transition to Sibelius from Finale, the next in a series of licensing improvements, and much more.
Here’s a quick look at what’s in this release.
MusicXML Import improvements
Bringing a score from another music notation application, such as Finale, Dorico, or Musescore, is now easier than ever, and creates a much more faithful representation of the layout of the original score.
We’ve also added the ability to import .mxl files in the advanced File > Import workflows, allowing you to import any MusicXML file into your existing Sibelius template. Since MakeMusic announced the end of Finale in August, we’ve had thousands of Finale users be interested in switching to Sibelius and we’re working to support the transition as we hear from uesrs.
Other updates in 2024.10 include:
- Licensing improvements: users will see fewer licensing errors and more stable everyday use
- Notate Glissando: Quickly notate glissandi lines in Diatonic and Chromatic modes from the Note Input tab
- Tuplets remain selected after changing voice: When changing the voice of a tuplet, the notes and the tuplet number will stay selected, allowing you to perform further editing. Previously, these were deselected, which was inconsistent with other similar editing actions.
- MacOS Sequioa Support: full compatibility with macOS 15 Sequoia, Apple’s latest version of their operating system

Sibelius is now qualified for Apple silicon processors! Load times and startup times for customers running Apple silicon will see a marked improvement in performance.
If you’re running silicon natively, you’ll see improvements in the following areas:
- Startup time is up to 30% faster
- Editing large scores is up to 50% faster
