Loop playback

Loop Playback lets you repeat a section of the timeline continuously until you stop playback. This is useful for practicing parts, fine-tuning edits, or auditioning effects. For even more control, you can enable Dynamic Transport, which allows the playback start point to be placed before the looped section. This is helpful when you want to hear the lead-in before the loop, check how a transition flows into it, or practice punch-ins without losing the looped range.

Enable Loop Playback

Step 1. Turn on Loop Playback

  • Select Options > Loop Playback.
  • Or right-click the Play button and select Loop.

Step 2. Select a loop range

In the Edit Window, drag across the timeline to highlight the section you want to repeat.

Step 3. Play back in a loop

  • Press Play. The selected range loops continuously until stopped. (image)

  • Edit transitions or automation with precision.
  • Test effects on a repeated section.
  • MIDI and drum programming

Dynamic Transport

Dynamic Transport expands Loop Playback by letting you start playback outside your loop selection.

Step 1. Enable Dynamic Transport

  • Select Options > Dynamic Transport.
  • Or right-click the Play button and choose Dynamic Transport.

Step 2. Adjust the playback start marker

  • Drag the play start marker (triangle) to any point in the timeline.

Step 3. Play from a different start point

  • The loop selection stays fixed, but playback begins wherever you place the start marker.

Why use Dynamic Transport?

  • Play into a loop from earlier in the song.
  • Punch in or rehearse without losing your loop.
  • Get more context when looping sections.
