Creating a click track
A click track acts as your session’s metronome, providing a steady beat to keep musicians, vocalists, and producers in sync to your project’s tempo during recording and editing. In Pro Tools, the Click II plugin makes it easy to generate a customizable metronome sound that follows your session’s tempo and meter.
How to Create a Click Track in Pro Tools
Step 1. Create the Click Track
- Go to the top menu bar and click Track.
- Select Create Click Track from the dropdown menu.
Step 2. Review the New Track
- Pro Tools automatically creates a mono Auxiliary Input track.
- The Click II plugin is inserted on this track by default, generating the metronome sound.
Step 3. Align with Session Tempo
- The click track automatically follows your session’s tempo and meter settings, ensuring your project stays in time.
How to Toggle the Click On and Off
- You can mute/unmute the Click Track just like any other track.
- Alternatively, toggle the click on/off by clicking the Metronome icon in the MIDI Controls section of the Transport window.
